Job Summary:
The SHC will adhere to four key pillars of service: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centered Care and Innovation.
These pillars serve as the key philosophical principles to be used in the development and service of all care to patients and families at SHC.
The Nursing Attendant provides patient care services as an unregulated worker under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
Roles/Responsibilities:
– Provides appropriate care, as delegated in accordance with Alberta Health Services policies,procedures, and established standards.
– Demonstrates consideration of patient/client/residents’ comfort, safety, privacy, independence, choice, and dignity.
– Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction as required.
– Effective time management skills.
– Understanding and compliance with the AHS code of conduct.
– Self-direction within the scope and duties of the job required.
Unit 58 SHC is an Acute Inpatient Care Unit with a focus on Neurosciences and Hospitalist patients.
Qualifications:
– Graduate from an educational program using the Provincial Curriculum for Health Care Aides.
– BCLS-HCP certified responder required.
– Acute care experience required.
– Neuroscience experience preferred.
– Must be able to communicate clearly in verbal and written English.
– Effective interpersonal and communication skills with patients/clients, families, visitors and team members.
– Knowledge of hospital equipment and supplies required.
– Ability to provide basic patient care and comfort required.
