Job Summary:
The service worker is a member of the interdisciplinary team who assists nursing staff in maintaining a hygienic, well equipped and safe patient care environment to ensure that patients receive high quality services within the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Under limited supervision by the Supervisor/Unit Managers responsibilities include (but are not limited to): basic cleaning of the assigned patient areas and patient specific equipment such as microwaves, tables and chairs on a regular basis, cleaning, according to AHS-MHRH infection control and MHRH specific policies and procedures, restocking supplies, portering of patients to and from units as assigned, transporting specimens to laboratories, transporting charts and supplies to and from the assigned unit and other nursing units/departments, assisting with lifting patients during transfer as required. Some clerical duties may also be required.
Qualifications:
– Grade XII or Canadian equivalent required.
– Basic medical terminology and science background preferred.
– 1-2 years previous experience preferred.
