Job Summary:
The incumbent participates in the delivery of quality patient care by performing services necessary for the physical and emotional well being and comfort of the patient. Nursing Attendant duties include assisting with bathing, feeding, transferring, lifting and portering patients. Nursing Attendants may be asked to deliver specimens to labs, order supplies, clean and maintain unit equipment, monitor unit tidiness including equipment and storage rooms. Physical requirements include long periods of standing, walking and lifting. The Unit Manager supervises the position and the Charge Nurse and other team members provide general direction for specified duties.
Qualifications:
– Basic computer skills, as well as familiarity with medical terminology are assets.
– The candidate must have the physical capability to perform all aspects of the role.
– Must have good communication and organizational skills, must be committed to family centered care.
– Current Basic Life Support (BCLS-HCP)-Healthcare Provider registration required.
– Preference will be given to candidate with completed Health Care Aide course (or equivalent).
– Neurosciences experience preferred.
